Microbial Makeover Fundamentals Workshop
In this full-day workshop, you and your friends will find out what microbiota and microbiomes are, where they come from, and how we interact with them in ways that affect our health and even our behaviour. You’ll learn the fascinating history of our relationships with microbes, and you’ll see how our understanding of their roles in our diets, in our health, and in disease has developed. You’ll discover both traditional and contemporary fermentation processes, and ways that you can encourage health and wellness for yourself and others. You’ll even get to take home some of the materials you’ll need to get started right away.
This informative workshop combines entertaining presentations with tastings and demonstrations of a variety of probiotic samplings. Your ticket includes not only nutritional probiotic snacks and beverages throughout the day, but also a microbe-friendly breakfast and delicious, locally-sourced lunch of your choice. All lunches are made with organic, humanely sourced ingredients.
Roasted local, pastured chicken with a black bean and corn salsa, fermented peppers and Carolina Gold rice, and topped with kefir sour cream and fiesta lime sauce.
Seared local, grass-fed beef marinated with Mediterranean spices and served with seasonal vegetables, black olive tapenade, tabouli and a creamy yogurt-feta dressing.
Grilled tofu with lemon kale, roasted red pepper hummus, Carolina Gold rice, seasonal vegetables and tangy artisanal sauerkraut all topped off with a turmeric tahini dressing.
